What We Do

Our Projects

01.

Women Empowerment, Development & Sustainable Projects

Brafie Nsoroma Foundation aims at empowering women for sustainable development in our communities. Our target is therefore aimed at helping single mothers by increasing their capacity to support themselves and their children.

Ndoboa Projects

Ndoboa (pronounced as Ndo – Boa) is a concept derived from the Ghanaian language, specifically from the farming communities. It means “help me with my farm and I will also help you clear your farm to ensure bumper harvest for all.” We have adopted this concept, “Ndoboa” with the sole aim of demonstrating love through help. Ndoboa is a women development, empowerment and sustainability project, targeting single mothers in our surrounding communities (Cape Coast, Central region of Ghana).

Social Support Programs

Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation is a community-driven organization committed to empowering children, women, and vulnerable populations in deprived communities in Ghana. Through education, technology, reading, health support, and mentorship, BFNF seeks to create sustainable change by providing opportunities that enable individuals—especially children—to reach their full potential.

The core initiatives under our social support program include Light Up Africa, Africa Kids Connect, and Small Things with Bigger Impact.

LIGHT UP AFRICA

Light Up Africa is an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and reading initiative by Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation, designed to positively expose African children to technology and literacy. The current pilot community is Ebubonko, a deprived village in Cape Coast South, Central Region of Ghana.

Technology is advancing rapidly across all sectors of the world. Without access to ICT education and strong English reading skills, African children are at a severe disadvantage in global competition. Many children in Africa remain excluded from technological advancement due to limited resources, poor exposure, and lack of structured learning opportunities.

Light Up Africa aims to bridge this gap by combining ICT education with reading and literacy development, ensuring that African children are equipped with the tools needed to succeed in the modern world. Every child deserves the right to grow, dream, and pursue their ambitions, regardless of their background.

Soccer Pitch Reading Program

Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation seeks to establish an ICT and Reading Centre where children can improve their English literacy and gain practical ICT skills. African children are intelligent and capable; with the right information, guidance, and consistent practice, they can excel in all areas of life.

Program Background

The Soccer Pitch Reading Program has been running successfully for the past four years. The program targets children in communities where interest in soccer is high, but interest in reading and formal education is low. Soccer is used as a motivational tool to encourage children to participate in reading activities.

The program is implemented in partnership with Ali Royal Soccer Foundation, a local juvenile soccer academy. The pilot community is Ebubonko in the Central Region of Ghana.

Program Structure

  • Children participate in warm-up exercises (10–20 minutes)

  • Reading sessions follow for approximately 40 minutes

  • Children then engage in soccer or other sports for about 40 minutes

To encourage participation, children are provided with drinks, occasional candies, and sometimes soccer equipment such as balls and boots.

Reading Groups

Children are divided into three groups based on reading ability:

  1. Beginners / Lower & Upper Primary

  2. Children who can read but need support

  3. Children who cannot read at all (Kindergarten and minors)

    • This group focuses on pictorial reading, storytelling, and volunteer-assisted reading

Impact and Participation

  • Average weekly attendance: 70–90 children

  • Sessions held every Wednesday, 4:00–6:00 pm

  • Participation continues to grow steadily

  • The program is paused only during school examinations or national events involving children

Challenges

  • Inadequate supply of age-appropriate books

  • Many children attend sessions hungry, which affects concentration and learning

Despite these challenges, the program has demonstrated strong impact and community acceptance. Pilot attempts in nearby communities have received high participation and positive feedback, showing potential for expansion.

Future Plans

BFNF plans to:

  • Assign children with specific learning difficulties to individual volunteers

  • Track and measure progress in literacy and educational development

  • Expand the program to additional communities once resources permit

Many pediatric wards in Ghana lack child-friendly murals, educational artwork, and engaging learning materials that support healing and emotional well-being.

Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation visits pediatric wards—particularly the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH)—to read, interact, and spend quality time with hospitalized children. These visits provide emotional relief, encouragement, and a sense of care and belonging to children undergoing treatment.

Activities include:

  • Reading storybooks to children

  • Assisting with simple educational workbooks

  • Light physical or mental activities when appropriate

This program was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic and is scheduled to resume. Support in the form of children’s books and learning materials is welcome.

Africa Kids Connect (AKC) is a mentorship, exposure, and connectivity program initiated by Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation to bridge the gap between African children and global opportunities.

The program seeks to connect:

  • African children with one another locally

  • African children with peers and mentors abroad

AKC uses education, tourism, environmental engagement, and career exposure to broaden children’s horizons, boost confidence, and help them discover their talents and aspirations.

Many African children grow up with limited exposure and often underestimate their abilities compared to children in the Western world. AKC aims to change this mindset by providing equal opportunities, positive role models, and practical experiences.

Key Program Areas

  • Local educational tours (road, rail, and air)

  • Career mentorship and guidance

  • Internship and mini-internship opportunities

  • Environmental problem-solving tasks

  • Leadership development (“Kids as Agents of Change”)

  • Kid entrepreneurship (“Kidtrepreneur”)

  • Inspirational career days with professionals

  • Peer education initiatives

  • Reading and publishing simple children’s storybooks

  • Identification and nurturing of special talents and creative skills

  • Pen-pal programs and collaborative team projects

  • Encouraging ICT skills, coding, Java, and related technologies

Small Things with Bigger Impact is an initiative by Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation that encourages individuals and organizations to take simple actions that create meaningful and lasting change.

Many people in need do not require large interventions—small acts of kindness and support can significantly transform lives.

Key Activities

Connect to Support Food Campaign

This campaign was launched at the Ankaful Leprosy Camp with two main objectives:

  1. Provide food support for cured Hansen’s disease patients

  2. Identify and expose inmates living with disabilities who possess special talents

Medical Aid Support

BFNF also facilitates medical assistance by:

  • Identifying individuals with critical health conditions

  • Connecting them to sponsors, donors, and medical support networks

03.

Volunteerism Projects

The world is increasingly embracing the spirit of being our brother’s keeper—supporting the vulnerable, serving communities in need, and offering skills and services for the collective good. Today, elementary school pupils, high school and college students, universities, and professionals across the globe actively participate in volunteerism, often traveling long distances and using their own resources to support projects in communities with critical needs.

Volunteerism knows no age, profession, or background. What truly matters is passion, selflessness, availability, and the willingness to serve. Voluntary work creates meaningful opportunities for young people, experienced professionals, retirees, and community leaders to dedicate their time—whether for a short, medium, or long-term period—based on their availability.

Volunteerism has also become an important platform for students and professionals to either gain practical experience or share their expertise. In line with this global movement, Bra Fie Nsoroma Foundation (BFNF) offers members of the African diaspora the opportunity to participate in carefully structured volunteer placements aligned with their field of study or professional background.

Diaspora volunteers may select placements lasting 2–5 days, which form part of our two-week volunteer and cultural immersion project package.

By signing up with BFNF beyond the Year of Return and heritage pilgrimage tours, volunteers enjoy unforgettable cultural experiences while making a meaningful impact in local communities. This approach allows participants to “kill two birds with one stone”—giving back through volunteer service while creating lifelong memories and strengthening connections with Africa.
